I am looking forward to spring and the upcoming season I sold my ride last fall and I am looking to get a new 2 up wheeler. I can get a smoking deal on a 08 cat trv700 EFI LIMITED with all the options.
The can am 650 HO max XT will cost me a $1,000.00 more than the cat. I had a king quad 700 and the motor was great I know that the cat has plenty of power but the jury is still out on which machine is better. ???
What do you think? do you have one and how does it go? Thanks rapidrobert

Wow, that's going to be a hard one.

There are two things about the TRV that you should know Bob, the first is that the TRV has a different final drive ratio than the standard Cat 700 that I have. The TRV has a bit lower ratio and therefore a lower top speed. I know you're not looking for top end, but it is worth mentioning.

The second thing about the TRV you've probably already noticed, if you've seen them in the dealerships next to other Cat's. That is that the TRV has shorter shock springs than the other Cat's. If you want the added ground clearance you can just swap in shocks from any other Cat ATV.

Personally, even though I have a Cat and I freakin' love how tough they're built, the Can-Am has one hell of a sweet motor! That v-twin is going to be hard to beat.

Good luck, I think either would be a great choice for you!

Just when I thought I had figured out what I wanted cat cam back with even another model to consider and may be the choice. I know the price will be right. To bad I do not have one for this weekend with the heated grips and all. what do you think about this.

Just saw that yesterday. Member on ArcticChat posted it so of course I had to take a look. Sure is nice looking and you know I love the brand.

Just one little thing that bothers me and that's the paint. For me, the nice finish might last one ride. Branches, rocks from your buddies machine, god knows what in the mud and that would be all for that pretty paint.

Then again, that's just me.  :D

I'd love for you to get one so I could bum a ride to see what it's like!  Drool

Actually I though about the fact that the machine may be to nice for the mud bath and the beating that a ATV takes.
I thought that it would look better if cat would make it dot street legal. And then you could drive it to work. Thats funny Right?

I had a king quad 700 so I know the suzuki 700 is strong but how is the power of the 700 Suzuki motor compaired to the h1 650 or 700 h1.
Cat only has the 700 efi Suzuki motor in 2up in the black Le and the cruiser.
I wish that you could get the regular 2up with the 700 Suzuki motor. Have you ever ridden a h1 650. Rapidrobert

Another thing that is a big consideration is the re saleability on the 2 up 4 wheeler compared to the regular, I all ready have the seat off the king and when I go to get rid of it for the next best thing will I take a beating do to the fact it is the 2 up model????

The 650H1 & 700H1 are reported to be quite snappy but I only have experience with the 650. While it seemed to be pretty good overall, I really like the power, sound and feel of the Zuke motor in the Cat chassis. It just feels better, to me anyway.

I have the 650 TRV and I wouldn't trade it for anything except a 700 H-1 TRV or TC 1000 TRV. If they make them in the future. I can't tell you it is a better machine than the Can Am but that $1000 can go for quite a few aftermarket parts (tires, rims etc.). Like Great White Hunter said they have different Shocks than the other cats that make them shorter but I believe they are also stiffer so you could switch them with other cats. The ride may be too soft then though.

There also is the capability of changing the back seat to a rack or dump bed, I think that accessory option is awesome. Which ever you decide good luck.

Thanks for the info, I know that the cats are tuff machines and I like the option of the back rack. I will have to see if I can find a cat dealer that has a trv that you can really ride.I have ridden the can am and really liked the motor. The only thing about the can am is that with the 2 up seat on and seated I have to lift my foot off the running boards to use the rear brake peddle, It is defiantly cramped with 2 people on it for the driver. Well I can tell you one thing the Cat TRV is not cramped at all. I am 6'1" 260 and my cousin who is the same height but out weighs me by 30-40 lbs rode on mine with me and it wasn't much different room wise.

If you were closer to me I would let you cruise mine around for a test drive.

I can also tell you that if you climb any steep hills this machine is like a billy goat. I haven't gone up a hill yet that I had to lean foward for. PJ can tell you how steep some of the hills around here are.
