How are these beasts for reliability? My brother is considering one. I think it could be almost the perfect machine for him (perfect would be the Renegade 800 with selectable 4wd). He rides every few weekends at most and is looking for a machine that he can hop on and ride without worrying about anything. We're aware of the power/weight/size of the monster, and we're not concerned about that. The biggest concerns are great reliability and minimum maintenance. Good choice?

I never had a promblem with mine    although mine was a 07 and only had it for one season..   reason for trade was the brute can just go almost anywhere.

Reliability is not a issue, I have never had a problem with mine that I didn't cause.... tree's......
Please consider heavier duty tie rods and ends, the 04 has the skinny ones... I bent one once just going thru a mud hole at minimal speed...
Maintenance is easy as can be, everything is easy to get to and very basic.
Put a K&N air filter on it and really wake it up.... simple and fairly inexpensive..
