This is totally cool!  Maybe they'll let me run the prototype for a season.

Think that would help you stay upright?  LOL LOL

Seriously, Yamaha raced several 2wd bikes in the '06 and '07 Dakar's. They did pretty well.

I think the Christini 2WD bike did really well in the Endurocross the past few years.  The kit costs abot $3K I think, but if you race it may be worth it.

I'm surprised more people don't do it.  I see guys spending hundreds of dollars on plastic and decals, and multiple times that just to gain a couple of HP.  You'd think AWD for 3 grand would be tolerable.

For me, $3k would bike a very nice second bike, so I just couldn't justify it.  It would be awesome to run one for a weekend though.

The $3K is just for the kit, not the bike, so if you bought a brand new Honda 250X for $7K, add another $3K for the Christini AWD.

That's exactly what I was saying DD.  For what I would spend on the kit I could have a nice second bike, but with what I see guys spending on bling for their bikes and matching outfits(which is kinda valueless to me), I'm surprised more people don't get AWD fitted to their ride.

Oh! I am going to look at an '08 250XC-W inConnecticut next week.  I have been looking for a 300, but I'd get a 250 for the right price.
I'm teaching classes in Albany, New Paltz and Western Connecticut, so I'll be 30 minutes from the guy with the bike.  Because I'll be in a rental car,  I know I won't be coming home with it.....

Gotcha!

What subject do you teach that makes you travel?  New Paltz is right around the country corner from me.

Either bike is a good choice from the research I've done, with the 300 winning best all around bike honors in almost all the shootouts.  Good luck!

I teach for Snap-on Tools across the Eastern half of the Country.  I teach customers how to use our equipment, and how to diagnose today's computerized cars.  It's a decent job as long as you don't mind life on the road.

This past weekend there was a motorcycle show in Syracuse.  A buddy of mine attended and found a potential deal on an '08 300XC.  I gotta get the suspension done anyway, so it doesn't matter to me which bike I get.
