Owners of Polaris Sportsman700 twins may want to check your plug wires for wear around the area where they leave the plug and cross over the valve cover of the engine.

My 2004 was starting to misfire occasionally last year. When putting new plugs in last week I found the problem. The wires rubbed the valve cover and wore off enough insulation that it was intermittingly shorting out. Re-insulated the wires and put some wire wrap around them to take the wear first. Running better now.

I just bought a used 2005 Polaris 700 EFI with 170 miles on it.  I was looking to hear back from some of you that have one of these machines and tell me if there are any problems I should be looking for.

My 700 carbed version developed a crack in the intake and was leaning out the mixture and backfiring quite a bit under certain conditions at around 2500 miles. About a $60 dollar piece of rubber.
