Tonight is the Lewis county meeting for the new trail system. The meeting will be about opening a new trail system for all of us to ride on and keep us off the county roads. Jefferson county will decide tonight who will be the trail system coordinator as they have alreday approved a posistion for a trail coordinator , Lewis county will be voting tonight if they even want to have a trail coordinator appointed. County legislators at there final meeting of 2005 narrowly voted to rescind the 2001 law opening portions of 39 county roads to ATVs.
The state attorney general and county attorney , both said the roads should not be open to atv's just to connect to other roads , only to get to a trail or other riding areas.
By the watertown daily news for a full write up on this story ....3/7/06.

Good morning,How did the Tug Hill meeting go? The trail coordinator job might not be approved yet but they're advertising for it on 1000islandshelpwanted.com.

Jefferson county approved it , but are still looking for a person to fill the position. Lewis county , has a bunch of morons in office and did not approve someone or deny the position as of right now , which means roads are still closed to us. I my self did not register any of my quads as of yet , I will not pay $25.00 a year for nothing. JMO. My polaris is still good untill April of this year and I will not register that to if they dont open the roads back up.

3/13/2006 : County legislator , Alex A Mackinnon , has introduced a plan to open roads to atv's in the north country , To make a long story short , this is what he said at the meeting : he wants to open trails that connect by useing some of the county roads , if we get approved to use at least some of the roads then we can have all the trails connect , as of now we do not have access to any roads so opeing any trails now will be worthless if we can not connect to them . Will we see this happen ? I think not , in my opinion this is all just a run a round , they wouldnt even speak to me after i told them i lived in Oswego county , but I tried to explain that all 3 countys connect in tug hill and we need this system back open , we already lost enough revenue up in that region this year and without atv's it will be a lot worse. Everyone tried to blame the tree huggers for the closing of the system , but whats the problem now that we have new people in committee ? All they do is blow smoke up your ass with no real answers , untill we are united as a group we will not get anywhere , can you imagine 150,000 people showing up to a meeting instead of 5 ? that would get heads moving and areas open , but untill then we will have them to tell us what to do and the rest sit there at home and complain they have no where to ride !!

Oh and By the way , to all the people who come to NYR forum just to see how our area is for riding or if the roads have opened ...I have this message for ya : if you are caught riding on the hill : 1 : your atv will be impounded 2 : you will be fined 3 : you will have to walk out of the forest 4 : your hotels are lying to you , the roads are still closed 5 : Do Not believe the hype , the media Lies TO ! click this link if you dont believe me> http://www.lewiscountychamber.org/atv_article.php3We do not have a 600 miles trail system that leads to Canada , the trail map is not free with a hotel reservation , No the trails will not be open in March , there all Lies , I was there , I heard it first hand , take it from me or drive 5 hours for nothing. Ok Im done ranting , whats next on the agenda ?

I'll be at the meeting if I'm in NY. I just got back from 5 weeks in Maryland working a Nuke shutdown, started at 9mile today and head to New Jersey in 2 weeks for another 5 weeker. Someone will have to drink my share of BEER!!! I will post up a trail work weekend for my system when I get back, a little trail trimming, a little beer drinking and alot of riding.
