OK, who is going to support our cause?  I think I may be able to attend now and I'm trying to convince my uncle to get some of his dirt bike buddies to come up from Binghamton.

I am hearing this ban has been reconsidered and will not happen.
But I also heard one of our brave members here had to pay the price for it to happen.....
OCATV leadership needs to seriously take a look at themselves in the mirror and ask themselves if this was right......  Rant Here

I ended up being the putz who didn't show up.  Joe, how did it go?  And what's the price you had to pay?

From the front page of the OCATV website:

The ATV Club, after further consideration, meetings with concerned landowners, and the membership at our meeting Sept. 20th, has decided to allow dirt bike memberships for the 2010 season. This will be a probationary period for dirt bike riders to continue as members of the ATV Club. The ATV Club is also planning to form an atv patrol unit for the 2010 season. The club is asking for a member or two that rides dirt bikes to join this group to help patrol the dirt bike riders. We need interested persons who are safe, respectable riders that strictly obey our club rules. Interested persons can contact VP Brad Hilton.

I sure hope that SOMEONE steps up to do it.  Dirt bikers need to solidify their relationship with this club.

For all the club members here speaking out against them, and doing the exact same things I did to get booted, NOBODY else showed up at the meeting to say anything...but that's another rant.

So, I hope that the folks that didn't stand up for themselves at the meeting, PLEASE...for the good of ATVing in general, step up and make this happen.

I think this entire situation could have been prevented at any stage if there was a better line of communication.  Both sides could have done a lot better job in this department.   I bet a single additional phone call could have gotten us to the same place we are today(without me sacrificing my membership). It's time for a few others to get more closely involved so it doesn't happen again.

Don't squander what you've been given.

Why did they want to ban bikes?  Did a few yahoos go in and tear stuff up?

The dirtbike community is probably the most responsible offroaders out there, and banning them would be a bad idea.  Instead they should welcome them with open arms.

Meanwhile I'll bet they LOVE those awful 1000 lb side by sides that do more damage in a single mile to a trail than a dirtbike could ever do..
