November 24th is NOT a Saturday... It is Thursday and Thanksgiving Day (and also my birthday )... Saturday would be the 26th.

It's hunting season now... landowners my not want the club on their land plus I would imagine there still may be some crops in the fields and I'm sure the golf course does not want stakes across the course until they shut down for the season. Unless there are re-routes most of the trail work was done last year. The only areas that need signing are from Snow Ridge to The Edge except for a few signs up on top of the Hill. A good part of our system is seasonal roads so there isn't much brushing to do.

My mistake, I must of flipped the calendar to Dec instead of Nov. or had a senior moment. Signage is the biggest job we have right now and those who have helped before know what we are talking about; stakes, signs and string. The culvert can be done in a couple hours, all I need is a day when some volunteers can get together. We have had a volunteer to help on the drag work, I have to get with him and make arrangements. Check under rides/gatherings for a notice I will be putting up shortly, thanx

Ride Trails in the Tughill Turin Region! The tughill wilderness is part of natures greatest regions in the Adirondacks of New York State. With one of the Northeast's earliest and heaviest annual snow falls, Turin & the Snow Ridge area is a great place to host you winter fun.

I have received a notice from the Lewis County Snowmobile Assoc. regarding a letter they received from the Lewis County Legislatures, this is to ask my members what they think of a permit system in Lewis County, all clubs are being asked the same thing. I do not know the advantage of a permit system other than losing any state monies for trail re-imbursement, who is going to patrol and enforce this when the sheriff and everyone else are all budget cutting, you have had people ride our trails before their were trails and the only way they register their sled now is to help the clubs; your ideas on this and a yes or no response will be tallied by me and reported at the special meeting,,,,Thank you for participating....Those that do not belong to TRR please contact your own local club to see what their thoughts are,,,Let It Snow

I am not a member this year as I will not join a Lewis County club this year as a personal protest to the crap Jason pulled at the forum this spring, but I was a member last year and will donate a membership fee to the club this year. My first thoughts are it is stupid. I would like to know how they are going to keep "non-permitted" sleds off the (public) seasonal roads? I would gladly pay extra to keep the traffic down and keep nicer trails up there, but you are going to kill the business up there by doing this. Other thoughts?

I also wonder how there going to keep sleds off seasonal roads. If it was going to take place I hope they put so good people behind this who are going to think this threw and just put it in place and wash the bugs out llater. I can't see myself behind this. Next thing you know we are restricted to just riding Lewis cty because everone else jumps on bandwagon and has one ,then you will need a permitt for every county,NO!

I hate the idea of another permit system in Lewis county, and it is why you'll never see any of my sleds on the permit trail system in Old Forge. I pay state registration to ride any trail in the state, just like my car. There is no county permit system on that system, and there are 10's of 1,000x as many miles of paved roadsas there are trails, and pay 1/2 as much to register and insure a car compared to a sled. If these permit systems keep going in place around here there will be many more "outlaw" riders (myself included) that you'll have to spend all that extra permit $$ on patrols to try and catch us. This is why the group of friends I have rode with since the 90's has dwindled from more than 60 to less than 6, everyone is tired of the BS and politics that are ruining a great sport in a great area. Patrols should be used to keep the trails safe, not to keep lower income people off the trails.

On this note remember not to do any signing hastily. NYS will have alot more trail safety inspectors out looking for how well marked and safe all club trails are, and will be using this info to justify club trail maintnance funding.
