After seeing some guys ride trials bikes at the Tennessee Knockout Extreme Enduro this summer I thought I would give them a try.  I'm way better at slow speed obstacles than the fast stuff on my dirt bike, so I thought it might be a good fit.

A few months ago I went to The Tryals Shop in Locke, NY and rode one around the parking lot.  Trials bikes are a totally different animal.

They offer an hour of trials instruction on one of their bikes for $50.00, so I went back to give it a try.  It was totally exhausting, and after 90 minutes I was completely wiped out, soaked in sweat and panting like a dog.

Here's a few pics.

Started with some slow speed turns to get a feel for the bike.

Some logs.

I had a good time, and took to it pretty well.  I think it's time to start saving for one.

Very cool!
I have watched those on tv before and those guys have some major skill to do that.
Looks like you will have it mastered in no time.... lol....

I am seriously on the prowl for a mid 70s Bultaco Alpina or Sherpa T for use in Vintage Trials.
The Alpina while not a pure trials bike it is capable plus offers a seat :D so it can be used as a normal dirt/enduro bike.
A friend has one that he bought new and it has been sitting for the last 30+ years but he says he doesn't want to sell it but I am trying to wear him down.

This is not his but what I would end up with after a restoration.

The Sherpa T is an all out trials bike and if I run across one of these at the right price I would snatch it up.

Hey Joe...

How about a nice vintage Ducati trials bike!

Note the rear brake and shifter on the same side...

That Duck is very cool looking.  Kick starter is on the wrong side.  So is the chain.  The brake lever goes through the hub on the chain side.  How goofy!   I'll certainly keep my eyes peeled for you on the Sherpa, but I don't think I've ever seen a single one.
