Ok, I'm a member of lots of ATV forums but none with the collective knowledge that we have here at NYRiders. The riders here are diverse, opinionated, hard riding and well aware of what we have available to us here in upstate NY as far as trails and conditions are concerned. That's why I need your help. I have a bit of a delimma that I'm trying to work out.

Here's the deal...

The wife and I are selling the ATV's and the ATV trailer. Her machine, the TrailBlazer and the trailer are going this fall and mine, yes the beloved TBX, is going after hunting season. I need them all gone by spring. Because...

WE'RE GETTING NEW STUFF!!!!!!

This is where the delimma begins. The wife's ATV is an easy replacement. She wants fully independent suspension and those that know her know that a 400 is plenty big enough. We don't call her "Crash" for nothing, 'nuff said. The trailer is almost as easy to replace, I'm looking for a three place, side load, similar to this Triton. I'm the difficult one to please here. I'm thinking Brute Force 750, Can-Am 800 or Arctic Cat 700EFI.

Here's what I'm looking for. One dealer to buy the whole package from. Not that easy as not all dealers handle trailers. Also, getting an IRS machine for "Crash" means that I'm looking at a Can-Am or Cat if I'm looking at local (or relatively local) dealers. Unless there's someone that I don't know of that carries Kaw and Cat or Can-Am.

The really difficult part of this whole thing is me. I love my Cat. It's tough, can walk through mud holes that give most machines fits, it out works any ATV I've ever used and it turns heads everywhere. Just a fact of having a mini-pickup with 27's on the trail I guess. :D But it lacks power. I really miss having the tail whipping, wheel standing power that I had years ago when I was first into ATV's. I want a 4x4 with IRS so I know that this sort of power will come with limitations but the TBX will never be there. Plain and simple. I also do not have the storage space to own two machines (of my own), something I had originally contemplated. One 4x4 Ute and a sporty something, that just can't happen. Not any time soon anyway.

Some of you guys are going to say that the 700EFI and the Can-Am 800 aren't even close and I agree. The 700 will need a sway bar added, some EFI work and possibly an after market exhaust to get it as peppy as I want it, but that will put it in the same price range as the Can-Am, so why not just do that? Did I say that I really, really like my Cat? Hence the dilemma.

What am I not considering?

  • Honda - don't like the Rincon and there are no options for a 400 class machine with IRS.
  • Yamaha - the Grizzly isn't for me, I feel like it's too tall and narrow and the 450 Kodiak is "reportedly" down on power compared to other 400 class machines.
  • Polaris - I'll never own another Polaris, not a bash, just a fact.
  • Anything Korean or Chinese - forgetaboutit.

So I guess I just need some ideas. Dealer names, places, thoughts about my (confused?) ramblings, and especially that which I haven't mentioned. Like, those stories about the dealer that was so [good/bad] that you [would/wouldn't] do business with them again.

Thanks in advance!

450, EFI, IRS, Utility???? No way! I haven't heard that. Well, I do have a very good 'Zuke/Cat/Yamaha dealer. They've taken excellent care of me so far. Have to keep that in mind.

Thanks Scooter!!

Mike, can you try the pic again? I don't think that's the one you meant to post.

I also didn't realize that I had the trailer wrong, thanks! Can you post the exact model you have when you get a chance? Yours is exactly what I'm looking for.

The new 700 EFI Grizzly has peaked my interest, I love my 2003 Grizzly and have been very happy with its performance.
I hope they stick the 450 EFI in the Suzuki, it will be a sweet ride, but as they say..... there is no replacement for displacement.....
Have you looked at the Cam-Am's? I saw the new models at the Woodsmen show this past weekend and they have also peaked my interest....
Either way, we will get to see them all Saturday.

BRP had them at the OCATV Trade Show, so I drove the 800 single-seat and two up with the wife and the 650 single-seat. If one word described them it would have to be WOW!!!!! They dive like a swimmer at the Olympics in the corners but the wheel spinning power is unbelievable. The 650 tended to do less wheel spinning and more hooking up but the displacement remark is right on the spot.

On that same note - the wife and I went to the Lumberjack field-days in Booneville on Sunday. The local BRP/Kaw dealer had some machines there and one of which was a Camo 800XT, single seat. Crash noted how nice the camo looked, in fact she really liked it. I just love that girl!

Thanks for the link, Mike! I think I like that rock shield, hadn't thought of that. I remember my first trip to Indiana and how nasty the machines were with all the road grime all over them. Might be nice for long hauls like that. Did you say that the stake rack kit requires drilling the holes for the pockets?

Ya Kevin. You clamp the brackets to the side and drill thru the outside rail. I can get them welded on for you if you would rather. I have been thinking about a set. A nice rail system for travel and then once to your camping area it wouldn't be hard to put a longer set of 2X4s into the brackets w/ a tarp and make a nice shade area. When I camp I put my tent on top of the trailor, I bring a center stand for the rear, a few pieces of fire wood in front of the tires and level it off w/ the front jack.
Just a few ideas.

you forgot about that site already Kev??? That's the same site I gave you in the spring. They also sell trailers, you can get the ones with the two side rails (drive on//drive off) that is what I'm looking at. Also they have pritty good variety as far as getting everything from one place. I haven't dealt with them personaly as my local dealer mached their online price. But I know Kurt has. Make sure you call ahead if you want a spacific color because you don't want to drive out their twice, That's why Kurt ended up with a Red machine instead of green.
I will see if I can get you a link to the trailer's they sell. They have many different ones but the one I am talking about........http://www.loadrite.com/ATV_Trailers/22/ (<----Thats one of them. The one I was looking at )http://www.rancealuminum.com/open_ATV-main.cfm  (<----not the one I was looking for but another option.) although I don't think they have can am's but you could get the 700efI I haven't ridden either of them so I can't help you out there. Although I heard the can-am was supposed to be a little more sportier if that's what your looking for. Later.

I got that Brute 650 for a steal, something like $52 or $5300.  The prices change alot, you have to watch them, they go up and down constantly.  It was easy to find and they were pretty cool. You can always change your mind after you get there too as they have almost every brand in 1 place. :D
