I've ridden the 650 & 800 sngle seat and an 800 two up with the wife on-board at 2 different Can-Am demo days. They are freaking amazing power wise! The front dives a bit in cornering but who knows what some suspension changes could do for it? The major difference between the 650 and 800 was that the 800 would spin the rear tires when the 650 would hook up and rip your arms out. Very cool motor! There's lots of other considerations with these machines that you can read about all over the net, don't have any long term experience even though I'd like some! One more thing, just saw a picture recently, forget where, of an 800 2-up doing a wheelie!!!!!

Thank you for the input. I was hoping to get to the ATV show at Flatrock last fall and demo one, but things just weren't gonna work out. I have to get to a demo and try one, or at least a dealer.

I would of loved to take them for a ride down Flat Rock Road and then a loop through one of the woods trails there, it would of been a perfect test.

I have an outlander 800xt. I like it. It has all the power you'll want and more. The front suspension really sucks!!! I cranked up the preload to the max and it still bottomed out all the time. When I put the plow on it the shocks couldn't handle the weight. The front shocks have since turned to mush and have been replaced. I went the cheap route and ordered a set from Works. They are non res. with triple rate springs and preload only. Man what a difference! They cost $ 465.00 for the front and about $430.00 for the rear. Well worth the price!!!!! The only other problem I have had with it is some water entered the CVT and created some slippage. Other than that, its been a decent quad. Oh, by the way, it is a real bear to get clean after a day of riding in mud. The single spar frame has nooks and crannies everywhere so invest in a power washer and set some time aside for proper cleaning.

Thank you for the great review. Most quads I ride need the shocks redone, I am a fat ass, so thats not a problem. Have you ridden it 2 up yet? I need to be able to haul a kid or the G/F sometimes. Does it feel top heavy at all? kinda looks like it would.

The 2 up 800 is really similar, just a bit longer about 8" I think. I kinda regret not getting the 2UP now cuz the wife likes to go riding sometimes and some places won't allow 2up riding on a machine that isn't designed for it. I say get the 2up and then invest in some Works shocks asap! If you are not into the all out power of the 800, the 650 or 500 might be nice. The 800 is NOT a machine for your teenager to ride believe me, they will kill themselves on it if left unsupervised!

I dont know if I would go with the 2 up version or just the single and put a box on it.

I can make a trip there if I can demo one there on site, I would have to beg the dealer up my way to let me demo one.

To answer your questions... I do UNREAL! I'm big so it fits me just right. It handles really good for it's size but the shocks are fading fast. I have an 07 Max LTD. It has the 2 up seat, winch, and LTD package (fancy wheels, GPS, bling on the exhaust, different grips) my wife liked the color and made the decision for me. The GPS is nice, grips are nice wheels and chrome exhaust doesn't matter too much to me, but most importantly SHE LIKES IT! haha. I got it back in late September. I heard about the suspension, it sags bla, bla, but my 1st impression was it was not as bad as I read. After 600 miles with my fat a$$ and my wife as a passenger for 90% of the miles they are getting weak. There are many options to cure it, and just yesterday BRP came out with Xtra HD Bilstien spring/shock packages priced reasonable. Due to my size, and amount of time that I ride 2 up and the extra weight of the plow and normal gear that I take while riding, I thing I might go for Elka's but it is pricey. This is only my opinion and I'm not knocking any other brand or model, but this has so much USEABLE power. This is the extended length model it has an 8" longer wheel base than a normal Outlander, and the overall length is also 8" longer. There is a big difference riding 2 up on this compared to a single up atv with a rear seat. I know this sounds like a BRP ad, but the rider is above or slightly in front of the rear axle, it is EXTREMELY stable. Even from a dead stop to wide open it does not want to flip or get light and loose. I am not saying you can not get it up if you want to, but with all that power and 2 people it feels safe and secure. The amount of room on it is amazing. I also have a H-D Road King, and there is more room and more of a comfortable seat on the back of the BRP the my Road King. On our 1st ride, I had to keep feeling back to make sure she didn't fall off, because I could not feel her on back at all. On the same token, while cruising down a trail we came to a rough section, I felt the bumps through the bars and hollered back " Are you OK? She replied yeah why?" So I guess she didn't feel it. I played passenger too, now I'm 6'3 300+ and I was very comfortable, slightly bored and embarrassed but comfortable. The only thing I did to mine is put on a set of Ricochet skid plates. They are pretty much a necessity, in my opinion. They were an easy install took about 2 hrs. All in all, I know the machine is expensive (very expensive) but for me (remember only my .02) this machine is perfect, it is big, big enough where I can ride all day comfortably with a passenger with out any troubles. It plows my drive way (if we get snow) does yard work. My only complaint is the suspension, I understand that dealers are doing some type of spring replacement under warranty, and I think they should for the money that we spend on these. I think they should have some type of skid plate for the frames, not just the CV boots. This is only my opinion, and if I spent all this money, and I thought the machine sucked, I'd say it, but for me the money was extremely well spent and I would not think twice about getting another in the future. There is only 1 other thing that I've heard some people had problems with and it is a leaky CVT O-ring from the factory. Mine seems to be fine as I've been pretty deep in the water without troubles. On a side note, my buddy was looking for an atv of some sort, he took mine for a ride and now is the proud owner of a 650. Hopefully, we can meet up with some of you guys this year and put some miles on! Bill
