Welcome to the board!!
Where were you thinking of going?
It is really touch and go in some parts, but for the most part we are not welcome there.
I would think of staying near Boonville, easy access to trails you can ride (Tug Hill region) and easy access to the Adirondacks for other activities.
Tug Hill riding is pretty nice, you can mix it up nicely with dirt roads and back woods type riding.

I second what PJ said and I'll add this...

...the best way to ride in the Adirondacks, legally, is to hook up with a sportsmans club. There are plenty up there that have use of many thousands of acres of land. If you know anyone that has some, that's the way to go.

Other than that, it it's public land, it's off limits to ATV's.

Timberview is great, good choice and lots of trails and you can easily head to the Adirondacks from there.
If you want cabins, I would go to Barnes Corners, they have 6 cabins and a full campgrounds, and the trails are right there.
The place you want to stay at is called Tuggers.

I am pretty sure they have worked out the issues with some closed roads in that area, tkmoto can give us more input here, that and you can call Tuggers.
Another place to stay and ride from is Montague.
You can ride to anywhere on Tug Hill from there and its legal too, not to far from Barnes Corners either.

I am just finding out that the Town of Montague is not open still, that is going to make staying in Barnes Corners just about impossible if you want to get to any other part of Tug Hill.
I am doing a bit of research today and I will have some more accurate information later today or tonight.
