That is definitely not a unique issue. MANY people need to use lower resolution on their monitors for a multitude of reasons. The glare often renders some fonts unreadable, as an example, to folks with some sight related issues that are enhanced by bright lights. Simply dimming the monitor is often not the answer as this can lead to eye strain! Talk about lose/lose. In this case, lowering the resolution increases font sizes without having to modify font settings in the OS, something that is NOT pretty and often causes more problems than it is worth.

Did you know that there is a magnifying tool built into Windows? It's in the Accessibility folder in your Accessories list in the Programs list. Pretty neat feature and very usable with a large monitor.

Not quite that blind! Actually I can read everything fine in 800 X 600. 1024 X 768 was giving me migraines so I went to 800 X 600 and haven't had one since. The only problem is the pics and also, everyones avitar I have to scroll as well. I can see where a wide screen would illiminate this problem. If I could widen the message area of my screen like in my e-mail program it would illiminate it as well.

Treat things the way a dog would. If you can't eat it or screw it, piss on it and walk away.
