Phantom, you all right?  I know all about crashing on two wheels, I've crashed more than I've ridden, my wife says I'm not allowed on two wheels, only 4.  Hope you're all right.

Leg is doing well, looks nasty but feels fine. matter of fact I'mm planning a ride on Sunday with a few of the guys that were there when "The Incident" happened.

Guess I should wear my knee/shin guards when unloading from now on!

Unloading???

Yep! I was being an idiot (nothing new) and tried to unload the bike from the pickup bed (using the ATV ramps) without the safety straps that keep the ramps on the tailgate.
The front tire starts sliding on the bed of the truck (I was holding the front brake on) so it's coming off a little faster than I want. I am walking backwards down the ramp rungs and when the ramp shifts. I mis step and my foot and leg go through between the rungs just as the ramp comes off the tailgate of the truck. The ramp lands on the ground with one of my legs through the ramp and the other aside of it with the bike on top of me and the ramp.
I end up with a small scrape above the knee (I was wearing shorts) and a gash half way down my shin where the ramp rung traveled until it hit the ground with a Large Grade A egg where it finally came to rest and a 300 lb bike landed on it.

A bunch of guys came running over and extricated me from the mess.

I was at the start of a large D/S ride put on by one of the local enduro clubs so there were plenty of people around (150 or so) I thanked them all for not laughing too loud and getting me out first before pulling out the cameras like most of my riding buds would do. Thats funny Right?

I recently got rid of my homemade atv ramps i got when i bought the yamaha.   decided that the ramp with the safety chains would be a little better for me  with that good luck i always have :D

May be just load it in the truck backwards so when you unload it, it's just pop the clutch and jump it off the truck. If it is road legal why do you load it on the truck to go a hour from home ?

Put her on the trailer this time :D

I truck the bike to enduro type events because after one of them the last thing you feel like doing is riding slab with cars on the way home. You tend to be mentally and physically exhausted... not the best time to deal with idiots in cages.

Man, slipping through one of those ramps has always been a fear of mine when loading the bike.  Sounds like you are lucky it didn't break your leg!

I'm going to put a plywood base with cleats for footing on the one side I walk down just in case. I've used the ramp plenty of times without problems, I've only myself to blame for not using the straps.

I cringe every time I see someone using crappy ramps and ramps with out a strap or chain on them, I have been there and I know what it feels like.
I even shy away from loading wheeled vehicles on a tilt trailer, I flipped a tractor once doing that....
