This E-mail was forwarded to me anonymously. It is written to Lewis County/DEC officials regarding the use of ATVs in Brantingham and the AKD park.

These are the kinds of people we are fighting on land use issues either we need to band together and get on the battle lines and write letters or just roll over and give up! If you want to continue using your ATVs get involved. For now it's the park and inside the Blue Line once they have that victory they will be looking at other areas to get ATVs out of.

You know what smokes my a$$ the most about all of this? I grew up in this area, have lived here all my life, and grew up riding recreational vehicals on all these lands. Back in the day, no one gave two craps if you skipped through some state land on your sled or wheeler or even your truck for that matter. Hell, we used to have parties out in the middle of BFE on state land. We all drove to these parties with our cars, bikes, trucks, wheelers, or whatever. We pitched tents, drank all weekend, picked up our mess and headed home. No one ever gave a crap. The most that ever happened is we were asked to leave a couple times because the parties got to big but no one was ever ticketed for tresspassing or anything like that. Now all you have to do is fart on state land and you are issued a citation. The part that really smokes my a$$ though is most of these people who are fighting to keep us out aren't even natives of the area. They come from the city, out of state, or where ever and they come up here to my home and try to change the f@#k!ing rules. Like this doctor from Arizona, if you don't like the way we live up here than stay the hell out of my nieghborhood. Motorized recreation has been a way of life around here since the 60's. If these people don't like our way of life then maybe they need to find another place to vacation or just plain STFU and deal with it.

Woody Guthrie saw this coming years ago and wrote a song about it.

Chorus:
This land is your land, this land is my land
From California, to the New York Island
From the redwood forest, to the gulf stream waters
This land was made for you and me

As I was walking a ribbon of highway
I saw above me an endless skyway
I saw below me a golden valley
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

I've roamed and rambled and I've followed my footsteps
To the sparkling sands of her diamond deserts
And all around me a voice was sounding
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

The sun comes shining as I was strolling
The wheat fields waving and the dust clouds rolling
The fog was lifting a voice come chanting
This land was made for you and me

Chorus

As I was walkin'  -  I saw a sign there
And that sign said - no tress passin'
But on the other side  .... it didn't say nothin!
Now that side was made for you and me!

Chorus

In the squares of the city - In the shadow of the steeple
Near the relief office - I see my people
And some are grumblin' and some are wonderin'
If this land's still made for you and me.

I hear ya Vince!
It's close to being too late to do anything about this here in Jersey but in the North Country we still have time to put up a good fight. There is a desperate need to have everyone write to their state representatives and go on record as being against the systematic closure of public lands and motorized recreational access.

All these out of state non-residents can do is write letters of protest. You residents can point out to your representitives that a vote by your representitives supporting land closures and treehugger agendas is a vote to get themselves out of office!

I would like to comment a bit about Bob Diehl, the Lewis County trail coordinator.
This guy is working his A$$ off to get us trails and roads opened up to connect more areas, lets help him by supporting him and his efforts.
Start e-mailing the people in Brantingham listed in the original post, then start e-mailing the Lewis County officials, let your voices be heard !!!
Look at the proposals he has been working on here >>> www.Lewiscountyny.org/trails <<<
It is really exciting to think that we would have such a vast trail system in the future, not just seasonal roads.

I'm starting my "Get The F Out" campaign this weekend. One of these signs are going to be attached to all the for sale signs up the road from my cabin this weekend.

Edit_ At the top it says "TO WHOM IT MAY CONCERN". I can't figure out how to save the full pic in MS Publisher though!
