Just wondering if any of you CVT geniuses have ever heard of this.  Sometimes when I stop on a ride and sit for a bit then proceed to take off there is a bad hesitation (not engine related) then the clutch makes a whining noise and BAM off you go.... It doesnt happen all the time but its becoming a cause for concern. I tried to get the cover off but it seems to be stuck...... any ideas?

I'd start by getting that clutch housing cover off. Make sure nothing coming loose or that the belt isnt glazed over......how many miles on it..?..

My TBX used to do something like that, but I wouldn't describe it as such a violent engagement. I think our clutch would be the same or similar since the engine & tranny in the TBX are Suzuki built.

The CVT that Suzuki uses is constantly engaged, there is no slip like in a Polaris, Kawasaki or Can-Am. Suzuki tranny's rely on a secondary clutch, internal and much like the automatic clutch used in the shift models. Yamaha transmissions are like this as well.

I figured that when my machine was hot, it was this secondary clutch sticking, most likely due to the expansion of something in that clutch causing it to stick just a bit.

I don't think this helps but I like to act like I know stuff.  :D :D

The TBX was the 500 right? If so I've also seen Vinsons do the same thing, and what you described is exactly what it does...pisses me off.... TAKE IT!

Yessir, 500. Great motor/tranny overall.

I know a guy (locally) that might be able to help, if it's really bad. Hes great with atv's of all kinds.
