Anyone have any knowledge. My 99 GMC with a 4.8 took a dump while I was driving down the road. It no want to start after that! I was thinking feul pump but after it sat a while it fired up, ran about 45 seconds and spittered and sputtered to its death again. Then it no starty again. Then after setting a few hours, it fires up again and runs another 45 seconds to its untimely death. Now I'm thinking feul filter but it doesn't make any sense that it would get feul after setting a few hours if the filters clogged without the pump running and if I could get the damn thing off I'd change it to make sure. They leave you approximately no room to get in there and turn a wrench and the compression nuts are rustier than hell and what little I can do with the no room supplied ain't working. Obviously though, if it fires after setting, the pump must still be working cuz somethings pushing feul to the injectors. At least it better be seeing the cheapest aftermarket pump is $250  Huh?? If anyone has any suggestions or just wants to make a smart ass comment, have at it. I can take it! And while I'm taking it, I think if I ever get it to run again, I'm going to take it over to Capraras and trade the money pit in.

for the heck of it,see next time it quits shoot a  small amount of ether see if it fire right away. Most likely shut right back down. But that will help clear up any ECM thoughts. Just had a check eng. light for E-Vap system keep trigger on my 02 chevy, found it has a chassis ground which had rusted, cleaned it up a save some big dollars.

My money is on the fuel pump......and dont go aftermarket...they burn out quicker than the O.E.M does......and start keeping your fuel tank level 1/2 full or better...thats what burn them outwhen you run the fuel level low.....

...Vince if it is the filter and its been a while since last changed, spray it with some kind of penetrate, then use  F L A T jaw visegrips to squeeze the flat side of the fittings, do not try to loosen it just continue to get the jaws on all flat side of the fittings and just some type of compression. With compression and the penetrating lube application for a couple days this ussually frees them up,the compression flex's the nut on the steel tube and thread and lube weps in. .good luck    If your down in the area with it stop by,we can work on it.
