Been looking hard at pricing for used quads, not so much brand specific or model specific, just looking in general. I am looking to buy this fall, but want a bargain and have decided against a new ride this fall (warranty would be about gone before I have any good miles on it), but used would work if the price is right. What a difference from area to area, I am not just talking from Syracuse to say Albany, I am talking comparing Upstate NY to say any Southern U.S. area.... With fall here and hunting season upon us, seems that the utility quads would be a bit more expensive and they have been in the past, but they are relatively reasonable if not a bargain if you look real good, why is this? guys would want them to hunt with in the fall or use with a snow blade in the winter wouldn't they? shouldn't the pricing be a bit higher? or is the market saturated? Used Polaris Sportsman's are out there in high volume..... I guess its because there are just so many of them out there.... Sport quads..... the common high volume models (KFX 400's for example) are a real bargain right now.... yeah buying them now doesn't give you much time to ride them before the snow gets to deep.. but a bargain is a bargain... and you will be glad come spring when the same quad is $500 or more higher... What are your thoughts on this?

I'm thinking that a ride down south with a REALLY big trailer might be in order. I have LOTS of vacation days to use!

What about new prices? I was thinking of starting a thread asking about reputable ATV dealers in the Albany area. The two near me charge WAY too much money, but we have a lot of NYC people in this area and they can afford to pay the big $$'s. I've been to two websites - Phibbs Motorsport and Troy City Garage. I heard Seymour's is a good place. Any personal experiences with these dealers?

A good point... Dealers that are heavy on quad inventory coming into a slow sales season may be selling them at or near cost to they don't have to carry them over the winter and possibly pay interest on the inventory. As far as Albany goes... not to sure on dealers... Kurt bought his Kawi at Troy City Garage, I think he had a decent experience with them.

I have dealt with Seymour's in the past. Did not buy a quad from them, but had dealings over a second hand Suzuki LT-160 I bought off a private party that had purchased it from them. They made no money, whatsoever, on my deal and still helped me out with all the paperwork, so that I could register it. Nicest bunch of people that I have dealt with in awhile. As for the price of used quads.... I think that we are in a tough economic time right now and that people are parting with toys that they do not regularly use. Cash is going to be king and there will be many good deals out there, for a while, if you are willing to look around and perhaps travel a little. GWH - we know that you don't mind driving a few miles for a good deal!

GWH - we know that you don't mind driving a few miles for a good deal! I know Tommy Seymour (Jr) through my club. He gave a few of my members REAL GOOD deals and they are awesome maintenance people. One buddy got his Vinson (Brand new) with the wheel bearings in backwards. The bearings went 600 miles and they were shot. WE removed them to find out they were backwards, brought them in to show Seymours....they refunded his money he paid for the new one's he got online..... and they credited him some $$$ for his labor.... I think he used the payback towards a plow set.... They are Awesome though. Troy City only did me wrong once. I bought aftermarket ITP and rims from them. They had to order them, when they came in, they mounted them...... WRONG! They put the front tires on the rear rims and vice versa.... at least they had the tread pattern going the right way... .... but the fixed them right there and appologized.... Good places todo business with

Im not sure if anyone in here knows but my dad and a few friends have been going to maryland and they have this big auction there with repoed bikes and atvs and alot of police impounds , seems like alot of bad atv and dirt bike stings going on there and they been buying and selling from the bikes they get there for 3 months now and they come home with atvs from 2003 to 2007 and just re sell them. He only came home with one this time but it was a 2006 kawai bruteforce with 300 miles on it and he got it for 2,700 and just sold it on craigslist for almost double. just a thought I guess.

Do you have to have any special kind of dealer license to purchase at this auction?
