Sooooo - I went for a walk around noon today after it stopped raining.  I decided to stay on the rail trail since it's hunting  season and I didn't want to spook the deer or end up with an arrow through my lung.  It's a rural rail trail and not part of my town or county system although they're trying to make it a part (bad thing IMO).  Anyway-

I heard a couple of  ATV's or db's coming up behind me so I moved to the edge of the trail, in part to get out of there way as well as to avoid being splashed from the mud puddles.  It was 2 quads and they FLEW by me.  They never took their thumb off that throttle. I jumped back when I realized they weren't slowing down, but in hindsight I feel I should have throw something at them!  I was wearing blaze orange and it was a straightaway.   They definitely saw me.

These weren't kids on sports quads.  These were adults on utes.  I know I'm preaching to the choir by posting here but it really made me angry so I'm venting more than anything.
 Rant Here

Maybe next time I'll stand my ground in the middle of the trail.

I hear ya....
When we ride I always slow down around people or quads parked on the trailside.
The last ride we did we saw a bunch of hunters out, when we saw them we slowed down, they waved us by and we kept on riding...
It's called respect, give it and you will receive it back.... eventually  LOL

AMEN

hey griz you going to join us for the ride after thanksgiving if you can't let the wife take your ride and go with us.

LOL I don't know about the ride yet, I would like to but I may be hunting. I have that Wed-Sun off.

Unfortunately the wife won't be doing any riding for a while. She has to go in the 14th for surgery (which sucks cause that means I had to take the 14th and 15th off and now have to work opening day of deer season) but oh well @#$% happens. Nothing major she just screwed something up in her knee's and waited to long to have it checked out and now its pretty bad. Even if it was 1/4th of what it is now she would still need surgery so it's even on the bad side for surgery. They said she will be out of work no less than 2weeks if everything goes exactly perfect and she is a fast healer. So I'm going to do some voodoo healing after the surgery to make it go as fast as possible  Beer Me  LOL

I will have to see what I can do about the ride. I would like to join in, I just can't commit just yet. You know how men are. In need of lovin

Its common sense and courtesy to slow down on any motor vehicle when nearing a pedestrian.

I just got my 08 raptor and still during break in, I do a few laps around my street (its shaped like a P, and there is no thru traffic) I stay to the right, and with my lights on. I dont go barreling down as I am still in the break in process. But anytime I see a person, or a car, I slow down to a crawl, I wave to acknowlege I saw them and they see me, and even after going by the, I dont get on it cause you can spray stuff up. I know its not legal to ride on streets. I am registered, and fully insured and have common sense and courtesy. I am 33 years old. I wish everyone who owned an ATV was courteous and would think before they go ripping around. It might have made a difference on NYS ruling on ATV laws...
